Setting Sail

April 12, 2010

Hello all!

It’s been quite a while since I’ve blogged– lots going on, including many trips out of town and other general busyness.  However, I have been working on lots of art, though most of it falls into the graphic design category.  I have been thinking a lot about my mom’s beach cabin lately (perhaps because the weather has been so cold and wintery here) and I ended up working on a little beach painting instead of the still lifes I typically do.  However, I am quite pleased with how it turned out, and am posting it here for you.  Enjoy, and have a wonderful Sunday!

In the Looking Glass

February 21, 2010

I have come to a conclusion this evening:  I am a total art geek.  Not necessarily in the sophisticated art enthusiast way so much as someone who goes geek for art (in this case, painting).  Case in point:  I am currently sitting on the couch in my favorite yellow painting sweatshirt covered in paint with no big plans whatsoever because I’ve spent the entire day painting.  However, for me it was totally worth it because I got to see a goal come to fruition.  The idea for this composition actually popped into my head last night while I was laying in bed, and I am so delighted to have actually executed a composition that came to me this way.  Anyways, enough rambling- here it is below.  I kind of thought it looked like the tomatoes were looking at their reflection in the pot, which made me smile.

I’m on Ebay!

February 20, 2010

As of today, I am officially on Ebay.  Feels pretty good.  🙂  Also, I am in the works on a new painting- reds and blues this time…I will be sure and update here as soon as I finish!

Lastly, happy Saturday everyone!  It is a beautiful day out here in eastern Washington, and I hope your day is also pleasant wherever you happen to be.

Plain Janes

February 19, 2010

Saw these Plain Janes at the grocery store today and thought that they might make fun little models for my next painting.  Turned out I was right!  It was really fun working with the bright, plump little tomatoes.

Liquid Sunshine

February 18, 2010

Sitting in my apartment in a blanket cocoon and my favorite yellow sweatshirt, I can’t help but miss the sunny weather of Orange, California, where I lived for three and a half years while I was in college.  For now, I will just have to dream of warmer days, and continue painting sunny pictures.
